Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad For Efforts To Register Women In Electoral Rolls
Highlighting importance of vote the Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abrar Ahmad Jaffar has urged the women to get their vote registered in electoral rolls.
Awareness programmes should be organized at girls education institutes to sensitize girls of importance of vote and to enhance their enrollment as voters, he said and directed to set up special camps in areas with less number of registered voters.
Regional Election Commissioner Syed Nadeem Hyder said that Elections Act, 2017 empowers ECP to declare election in any area null and void where women's turnout is recorded less than 10 per cent of total polled votes.
District Election Commissioner Shaheed Benazrabad Zahid Hussain Bhutto informed that a District Voters Committee had been constituted consisting of government officials, social organization's representatives to provide awareness about the importance of vote and registrations of eligible voters.
Shahnaz Lakho, Farhana Naz Siddiqui and others also spoke at the ceremony and highlighted importance of vote.At the occasion a speech contest was also held among students of different girls schools of Nawabshah.
Later, an awareness walk led by Deputy Commissioner Abrar Ahmad Jaffar and REC Syed Nadeem Hyder was brought out from district election office that culminated at Shiraz Chowk. A large number of students of different schools participated in the event.
