Director Google Calls On IT Minister

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2017 ) : Director Public Policy and Government Relations Google for South East Asia Ann Lavin called on Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Anusha Rehman here on Wednesday.
They discussed prospects to promote cooperation in IT between the Google and Ministry of IT Pakistan. Anusha Rehman said Pakistan had made revolution in the information technology sector in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and was making the country "Digital Pakistan" through Universal Services Fund, even the remote areas of Pakistan and rural areas were being provided with modern facilities and equipment of telecommunication.
She said under this policy, by 2018, Pakistan would be linked through telecommunication network. She said Pakistan was upcoming market regarding telecommunication and out of 200 million population 60 percent were youth and the government was giving top priority to the education of this sector.
She said the broadband had been increased from three to 28 percent and the government was committed to take it to 50 percent. The Director Public Policy and Government Relations Google for South East Asia Ann appreciated the progress made by Pakistan in the information technology and added that it was possible due to the positive and attractive polices being implemented by the present government.
She especially appreciated the efforts made by Anusha Rehman for the promotion of information technology in Pakistan and assured her full support for further strengthening the information network in the country.
