Food Department Penalized 251 Shopkeepers For Profiteering

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jan, 2017 ) : Food Department Hazara Division during December 2016, had penalized 251 shopkeepers for profiteering and adulteration and imposed fine of Rs.839150/.
A total of 220 shops were checked in District Abbottabad and 72 of them were found guilty and a penalty of Rs.291000/- was imposed on them. Similarly, 339 shops were checked in District Mansehra and 41 were penalized with imposition of a cash fine of Rs.224650/- while in District Haripur out of 145 shops, 58 were penalized with imposition of a penalty of Rs.
235500/-.
Furthermore, crackdown against profiteers and adulterators continued in Districts Battagram, Kohistan and Torghar where a total of 228 shops were checked and a penalty of Rs.88000/- was imposed on 80 shopkeepers.
Similarly, the samples of 81 food items from Districts Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur and Battagram were sent for laboratory test out of which 14 items have been found poor quality while action against the responsible persons will be taken after the completion of the laboratory test of the 264 items.
