IMF Approached To Bridge Financial Gap: Fawad

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Oct, 2018 ) :Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Saturday said the government had approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout package to run its smooth functioning.
The country at present was short of some $12 billion as 28 to 30 billion Dollars per annum was required to run the country's affairs, and that gap could be bridged through the IMF, he said while talking to a private news channel.
He said the conditions attached to the IMF loan would be a problem, however, the national interests would be kept supreme in negotiations with the international lender.
He said the masses were already burdened with financial problems and the government did not want to further add to their miseries. Effective measures were being taken to provide relief to the poor people, he added.
Replying to a question, he said the politics of Sharif family had now ended. They would not be able to play any political role in the country.
The opposition, he said, was crying hoarse to escape from corruption cases. The government would, however, could not be pressured and it would go till the last end to get the corrupt punished, he added.
He said investigations were under way regarding transactions of billion of rupees in accounts of common people.
Fawad urged the media to avoid airing fake news in the haste for rating.
Replying to another question about CPEC, he said China was not only Pakistan economic partner, but also a strategic one. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), launched by its collaboration, was an important project and some other countries also wanted to become partner in it.
