Judicial Commission Demanded On Sahiwal Incident

Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights met here on Wednesday to discuss the matters related to the Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill 2018, Sahiwal Incident and Death Penalty of NAB'S prisoner issues
The meeting of the Functional Committee on Human Rights was chaired by Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.
The meeting was attended by Senator Muhammad Hussain Kakar, Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq, Senator Keshoo Bai, Senator Sherry Rehman, Dr Shireen Mazari.
Senator Sherry Rehman introduced the bill entitled "The Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill 2018 to the Functional Committee on Human Rights for further consideration and approval.
The bill says "The proposal of the eighteen year for the purpose of marriage may be referred to the Council of Islamic Ideology for their comments". The committee approved the bill.
Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen M. Mazari said that all stakeholders have agreed to draft the Bill amending Pakistan Penel Code (PPC) and declared enforced disappearances is a "criminal offence".
The minister further said that the bill was drafted by the Ministry of Human Rights and sent to Ministry of Defence and now would put before the cabinet for comments on its legislation (final approval) before being placed into the Parliament.
Home Secretary Punjab briefed the committee over Sahiwal incident and said that JIT will investigate the issue and report would be presented soon.
The chairman of the committee expressed his dissatisfaction over the incident of Sahiwal and demanded to formulate a constitution Judicial Commission.
The Chairman also asked the former VC of Punjab University Mr Mujahid Kamran to be presented in the forthcoming meeting regarding the issue of death penalty of NAB prisoner Mian Javed Ahmad ,Professor of Sarghoda University in Judicial Custody as well as mistreatment of other prisoner in NAB custody.
The Chairman as well the Home Secretary also gave assurance to find out missing spokesperson of the Seraiki National Party Ahmad Mustafa Kanjoo also.
