Literary circles acknowledge poetic contribution of Syed Nusrat Zaidi

Literary persons Friday acknowledged the literary contributions of renowned poet, Syed Nusrat Zaidi during a session with him under the programme "Meet a Writer Over a Cup of Tea" at Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Oct, 2018 ) :Literary persons Friday acknowledged the literary contributions of renowned poet, Syed Nusrat Zaidi during a session with him under the programme "Meet a Writer Over a Cup of Tea" at Pakistan academy of Letters (PAL).

Prominent literary personalities including Dr Ahsaan Akbar, Iftikhar Arif, Professor Jalil Aali, Dr Rashid Hameed, Jameel Yousaf, Naseem Sehar, Mehboob Zafar, Luqman, Suhail, Sadaf Zaidi, Sadaf Nusrat and many others.

Narrating his poetic journey and stories of life, Syed Nusrat Zaidi said he was born in a village Memon of India and now he has crossed the age of 90. He started his career from Partap newspaper where he met a legendary writer, Abu al Kalam Azad.

After partition, he came to Pakistan and started a low profile job in Military Account Department. During his stay in Lahore, he met noted poet Ahsan Danish for several times. He participated in Mushaira's and recited poetry with Habib Jalib and other poets.

During his transfer to Dera Ismail Khan, he spent literary time with great poet, Abdul Hameed Adum, while in Peshawar, he got an opportunity to spend time with great poets like Ahmad Faraz, Khatir Ghaznavi and Farigh Bukhari.

During his transfer to Rawalpindi, Nusrat Zaidi spent time with renowned poet Jameel Yousaf. At that time other prominent poets including Tauseef Tabbassum, Dr Ahsan Akbar and Professor Jalil Aali entered into his friends circle.

Recalling his memories, he said, "I cannot forget the appreciation I received during a Mushaira held at Los Angeles, United States of America in presence of the big literary Names like Bashir Badar".

He said, "I have never imitated any one in my poetry and tried to maintain my own identity in my poetic career".

During his presidential address, Iftikhar Arif said Syed Nusrat Zaidi has established his separate identity in genres of poetry and prose. His poetry and personality reflect civilizational values.

Iftikhar Arif said that undoubtedly, Nusrat Zaidi's poetry is reflective of civlizational values of his own era.

Dr Ahsan Akbar said the poetry of Nusrat Zaidi carries artistic value as well as an innovative colour in it.

Professor Jalil Aali said Nusrat Zaidi is a poet of classical tradition and pure language and he had a deep knowledge of linguistics.

Director General, PAL, Dr Rashid Hameed said PAL has organized this ceremony under 34th programme of series of "Meet a Writer Over a Cup of Tea" to pay tribute to the services of great poet, Syed Nusrat Zaidi.

He said Nusrat Zaidi is acknowledged as Nastaleeq Poet of urdu poetry and his contributions cannot be overlooked. PAL will arrange such programmes in future as well.
