MINISTRY OF INFORMATION HAD IMPORTANT ROLE IN HIGHLIGHTING POSITIVE IMAGE OF PAKISTAN AT GLOBAL LEVEL: MARRIYUM

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2018 ) :Minister of state for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb while addressing certificate award ceremony of the specialized training course for information officers of 34th batch at the Information academy here today said that the ministry of Information had an important role in highlighting positive image of Pakistan at the international level.
The minister said that there was an imperative need for harmonizing the field of information with modern trends as the landscape of information had undergone considerable transformation at the global level.
The minister said that the government was taking appreciable steps for the promotion of culture, heritage, language and civilization adding that the information officers should play their role in strengthening connect with culture and heritage.
The MOS said that the information officers should discharge their duties with personal and professional interest. She said that there was a dire need for promotion of culture of tolerance in the society as tolerating difference of opinion had gone into a nosedive.
Marriyum said efforts needed to be made to change such behaviours and attitudes. The minister congratulating the officers for successful completion of their training course observed that it was a moment of pride for their parents as from tomorrow they would be taking up their responsibilities in different departments.
The MOS said that a number of steps had been put in place to modernize the Information Service Academy and the standard of the training courses had also been sufficiently raised accordingly. She said that the changing information landscape at the international level would also have to be made part of the training course.
The minister observed that the private sector had achieved appreciable modernity in the domain of information and there was a need to derive maximum benefit from it. She said that ptv was the most experienced institution in the domain of broadcasting but it had not gone ahead with required speed.
She said that the ministry of Information was the entity which was publicizing government policies and highlighting the image of the country at the international level. The minister observed that CPEC had thrown up myriad of opportunities and to benefit from them would require commitment and hard work.
She said that the youth of the country had drifted away from national heritage, culture and language adding that it was imperative to strengthen them at all levels. Marriyum said that information group officers would have to take pride in their profession and shoulder their responsibilities in a professional manner.
Secretary Information Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera speaking on the occasion urged the information officers to strive for ending intolerance, prejudice, extremism in the society besides projecting positive image of the country in the world.
He urged the information officer to focus on gaining more and more knowledge because it was an era of knowledge-based economy. He said that the social media had also attained significant importance and it was necessary to pay attention to it as well.
He said that they should highlight Pakistan and Pakistani nation as tolerant entities globally. The ceremony was also attended by Zahoor Barlas,DG External Publicity wing, DG Information Service Academy Zahida Parveen, PIO Saleem Baig and other officers of the ministry of Information,Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage.
