Neck to Neck contest expected on NA-37 Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The constituency District Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa NA-37 will witness neck to neck contest in the upcoming general election as heavy weights such as; PTI Candidate ex provincial minister Habibullah Khan Kundi, MMA candidate Maulana Asad Mehmood and ex MNA Dawar Kundi are vying for this seat.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jul, 2018 ) :The constituency District Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa NA-37 will witness neck to neck contest in the upcoming general election as heavy weights such as; PTI Candidate ex provincial minister Habibullah Khan Kundi, MMA candidate Maulana Asad Mehmood and ex MNA Dawar Kundi are vying for this seat.

The former deputy speaker National Assembly and PPP's senior leader Faisal Karim Kundi also announced to withdraw his candidature from NA-37 Tank in a bid to support PTI against the Mutahida Majlis Amal (MMA).

The decision was taken to support the PTI ticket holder in NA-37 against MMA candidate Asad Mehmood who is the son of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman who is also heading the Religious parties' alliance, said political experts.

Maualana Asad Mehmood told APP that his election campaign in full swing and the people of district Tank would support MMA candidate, saying that he is well aware of issues being faced by the people of area.

He said that after election he will make efforts to resolve the issues being faced by the people of this city. Maulana Asad Mehmood said that District Tank is the center of JUI-F and people have always supported JUI-F in elections.

According to political experts, ex Minister Habibullah Khan and Asad Mehmood are considered equally influential candidates and they have their party vote bank in the constituency.

The NA-37 constituency was created in 2018 by bifurcating NA-25 (Dera Ismail Khan-cum-Tank) where Tank district shared its representation with a portion of Dera Ismail Khan district.

The current constituency completely comprises Tank district while the Dera Ismail Khan areas of the old constituency are now included in NA-39 (Dera Ismail Khan-II).
