Pak-Korea Technical Textile Research Centre Established At NTU

FAISALABAD, June 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Jun, 2017 ) : The Pak-Korea Technical Textile Research Centre has been established at the National Textile University (NTU) here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the research center, Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of Korea Jin Wook Kim said in order to make Pakistan textile industry more competitive and capable for attaining a prominent position, this vital sector should immediately be switched over to high tech textile industry which would create value-addition through combination with medical, sports, construction and automobile fields.
He said the government of Republic Korea had granted a support of 3 million US Dollars in form of equipment procurement for this project in addition to imparting training to officials of the National Textile University.
He expressed confidence that the centre would give a positive impact on the textile industry and contribute competitiveness strength to textile industry in Pakistan. He said the centre would conduct various research and experiments, set up relevant standards for technical products testing services in technical textile and also provide support to starting business in technical sectors and to facilitate domestic and export market development of technical textiles.
Earlier, Rector NTU Prof Dr Tanveer Hussain, in his welcome address, said the textile industry was the mainstay of Pakistan economy. Director General KOICA, Chung Jong Hyok, Deputy KOICA, Kim Su Jin, Na Min Yeong and Seokwoo Park were also present.
