PPP MPA Demands Reconstrction Of Sukkur Barrage

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21th july, 2016) : PPP MPA Owais Qadir Shah has demanded reconstruction of Sukkur Barrage saying that he has submitted a plan in this connection in the provincial assembly, and soon a debate would start upon the matter.
The embankments in Sindh are in bad condition, the elected members should force bureaucracy to work properly. The embankments of Sukkur district are strong enough. Begari Embankment is in critical condition. This he said while talking to media on Tuesday after visiting Zero Point Embankment and Sukkur Barrage.
He pointed out that opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah is trying hard for construction of new barrage at Sukkur.
Four months ago the plan was submitted, loan is taken to run Sukkur barrage, while Rs 60-70 billion would be spent to construct a new barrage. Shah said that the 16th gate at Sukkur Barrage was out of use but now it is in working condition. He said that there is no danger of flood on Indus River but government is taking all precationary steps.
