Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) 86,432 emergency victims rescued in March

Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) rescued 86,432 victims of various emergencies while conducting 84,915 rescue operations in March across the province with average response time of seven minutes.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of two-day Course organized for all District Emergency Officers at the Emergency Services academy here on Tuesday, Rescue 1122 DG Rizwan Naseer directed all DEOs to assist law enforcement agencies during emergency management besides educating citizens about the rights and responsibilities of healthcare providers.

He said the service was responding to average 950 road crashes in Punjab on daily basis in which average 1,000 people including males, females, pedestrians, passengers, drivers & underage drivers were provided emergency medical treatment.

Expressing his concerns, he maintained that average 25 cases were being reported of spinal injury patients on daily basis.

He said that motorcycles were involved in 85 percent cases, which necessitate strict enforcement of traffic laws.

He added that most of the traffic accidents were avoidable just by abiding by road safety laws. Emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to include: 29,746 road traffic accidents, 43,777 medical emergencies, 1328 fire incidents, 2143 crimes, 54 drowning incidents, 36 building collapses, 12 explosions and 7819 miscellaneous operations.

According to the statistics, majority of fire incidents occurred in major cities, including 323 fires in Lahore, 130 in Faisalabad, 87 in Rawalpindi, 67 in Multan, 86 in Gujranwala and 34 in Sialkot. Similarly, 7216 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore, 3145 in Faisalabad, 1827 in Gujranwala and 2245 in Multan and 744 in Rawalpindi.
