Safe City Project's Cameras Complementing Efforts To Control Crime

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : The cameras installed under safe City Project are complementing efforts of the law enforcing agencies in prevention, detection and controlling crime. The successful execution of the project and its effectiveness vis-a-vis curbing crime and traffic management would enable this model to be replicated in all major cities of the country, a police official told APP on Thursday. The project's command and control centre has been established in a bombproof building at H-11 which is monitoring important buildings, entry and exit points, roads, commercial centres and a sizable portion of the city's residential areas.
The police official said that there have been two types of cameras including intelligent video surveillance (IVS) and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras.
He said that IVS cameras makes video while other ANPR cameras takes pictures of drivers, number plates of vehicles. The official said that better traffic management system would be ensured through this system and action against violators of traffic rules would be started soon by tracing them through this system.
