SC Suspends PHC Decision, Bans Admission In KP's Private Medical Colleges

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2018 ) :The Supreme Court Tuesday banned admission in private medical colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa till the cases regarding them were decided by the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed heard a plea seeking ban on a medical college in Abbottabad.

During the course of proceedings, Barrister Saif, counsel for the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), informed the court that the PMDC had imposed ban on the private colleges due to their incompatibility, but the the PHC had suspended that decision.

He requested the apex court to suspend the PHC verdict.

Justice Azmat remarked that the degrees of such medical colleges had no worth than that of a simple paper.

In lighter tone, he remarked that the authorities had failed to control population through policy decisions, but they adopted another way for the purpose by producing quacks, who were continuously killing people.

Subsequently, the bench suspended the PHC decision of giving interim relief to the private medical colleges and adjourned the case sine die.
