Shipping Activity At Port Qasim

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th july,2016) : Three ships C.V Maersk Kensington, C.V CMA CGM Traviata and M.T Atlantic Glory carrying containers and chemicals took berths at Qasim International container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively during last 24 hours. In the meantime four more ships Maersk Salalah, Voge Challenger, Diyaa-B, Fareast Honesty and GP T2 with container, cement, coal and furnace oil also got anchored at outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Berth occupancy remained on higher side at the port at 63% on Tuesday where a total of ten berths were engaged by ships namely C.V Maersk Kensington, C.V MSC Bilbao, C.V An Ke, C.V Al-Rawada, M.V Johar Express, M.V E.R Bilbao, M.V Glarus, M.V Viola, M.T Atlantic Glory, M.T Okyroe and Bunga Angalica to load/offload containers, cement fertilizer, coal, chemicals, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling remained upward trend at the prot at 127,677 tonnes, comprising 99,817 tonnes import cargo and 27,860 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,907 containers (TEUs)(1,589 imports TUEs & 1,318 TUEs exports) was handled at the port. Container ship Maersk Kensington sailed out to sea on wednesday morning while two more ships M.T Okyroe and M.T GP T2 are expected to sail on same day afternoon. Two ships C.V Maersk Salalah and M.T Bahra carrying containers and diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT and FOTCO on Wednesday, while oil tanker Karachi is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day and five more ships Maran Gax, CMA CGM Maupassant, Africa Glory, DA Zhong and Unity are due to arrive on Thursday.
