8th Chief Of The Naval Staff Amateur Golf Ch'ship 2018 Concludes

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Nov, 2018 ) :The concluding ceremony of the three-day '8th Chief of the Naval Staff Amateur Golf Championship 2018' was held at Defence Raya Golf and Country Club, Lahore on Sunday.

Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, who was chief guest at the ceremony awarded prizes to the winning golfers, said a press release issued here by Directorate of Public Relations of Pakistan Navy.

The championship has become a quintessential of national golf events since its inception in 2011.

Around 300 enthusiastic golfers participated in various categories, which included amateurs, seniors and ladies events.

Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat congratulated the winning golfers and appreciated their skills, dexterity and sportsman spirit displayed, throughout the event. He lauded the consistent and generous support from, sponsors and management of Defence Raya Golf & Country Club Lahore, without which the event would not have been such a resounding success. He also extended special gratitude to the media for projecting and highlighting the Championship through effective coverage and leaving a positive impact.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the organizer of the event, Station Commander (Navy) Lahore, Commodore Neimatullah thanked the chief guest for attending the closing ceremony.

He highlighted that Pakistan Navy, besides undertaking its Primary role of defending sea frontiers of Pakistan, had always remained at the forefront in promoting sports activities in the country.

He said that promotion of golf had always been a priority for Pakistan Navy and expressed the hope that the golf championship would hone the existing talent and help young golfers to the national scene.

The closing ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries from civil, military, corporate, academia and participating golfers.
