Cardiff, United Kingdom, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2018 ) :England opener Jason Roy did not let a rain break disturb his concentration as he completed a century in the second one-day international against Australia in Cardiff on Saturday.
Roy was on 91 not out when rain sent the players from the field at Sophia Gardens for the second time in the match, although no overs were lost on either occasion.
But after play resumed, Roy pushed left-arm spinner Ashton Agar for two past point to complete a 97-ball century including nine fours and two sixes.
It was the 27-year-old Surrey opener's fifth hundred in 60 matches at this level and his first since he made an England ODI record 180 against Australia in Melbourne in January.
Roy, however, was dismissed for 120 on Saturday during an eventful 36th over.
Australia captain and wicket-keeper Tim Paine was struck a nasty blow in the face when a legside wide from Andrew Tye bounced unexpectedly high just in front of his gloves.
Two deliveries later, Roy drove Tye for a majestic four through the covers.
But next ball he was out when a cross-seam delivery from Tye took the edge and Paine held a superb one-handed catch as he dived to his left.
Roy's exit left England 239 for four off 35.5 overs.
England, the world's number-one ranked ODI side, lead this current five-match series 1-0 after a three-wicket victory over world champions Australia at The Oval on Wednesday.
