International Junior Davis Cupper Hamid Israr Wins Jashane Azadi Tennis Cup

International Hamid Israr clinched the trophy of the Jashane-Azadi Tennis Cup played here at Synthetic Courts of the Qayyum Sports Complex on Thursday
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Aug, 2018 ) :International Hamid Israr clinched the trophy of the Jashane-Azadi Tennis Cup played here at Synthetic Courts of the Qayyum sports Complex on Thursday.
Director General Sports Junaid Khan graced the occasion as chief guest and witnessed the thrilling final. Hamid faced tough resistance against tin-tennis-star and Pakistan No. 1 in U-10 category Hamza Roman in the marathon three sets battle.
The final of the Under-14 category was also enjoyed by former Chief Executive Wapda Zaka Ullah Khan, renowned world plastic surgeon Dr. Tahir, who is also President of KP Tennis Association, Senior Vice President KP Tennis Association cardiologist Dr. Far, hat Abbas, Secretary Umar Ayaz, Director Development Niamat Ullah, officials and players.
The final started on fast tempo and both Hamid Israr, son of international Tennis player Israr Gul, played well against his strong rival Hamza Roman, son of prominent coach Roman Gul. The two promising Tennis stars played well and smashed some good shorts by receiving good cheering.
Hamid Israr won the first at 6-2 and failed to click in the second set won by Hamza Roman at 3-6. It was the last and decisive set in which Hamid Israr defeated Hamza by 6-4, The third set provided great thrill as both Hamid and Hamza gave each other a tough fight with some beautiful smashes and strong serve were also witnessed.
In the Ladies singles Orian Khan defeated Anum Fayyaz by 2-0, the score was 6-1 and 6-3.
Orian Khan fully dominated the proceedings and did not give much time to Anum to strike back. In the Boys Under-14 doubles Hamza Roman and Hamid Israr recorded victory against Kashan Umar and Zakir Khan, the score was 6-2, 6-4, in the veterans doubles Israr Gul and Jahanzeb Khan defeated Irfan Ullah and Iftikhar Khan by 2-0, the score was 6-2 and 6-3.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. The winners also awarded Rs. 10,000 of each category while therunners-up got Rs. 8000 each.
