NEW DELHI, Dec 2 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Dec, 2016 ) : Thailand's Jazz Janewattananond jumped into the lead with a seven-under-par on the fog-affected second day of the Panasonic Open India tournament in New Delhi on Friday.
The 21-year-old finished on 69 through 14 holes after dense fog hit play for the second consecutive day. Organisers decided to truncate the $400,000 Asian Tour event to three rounds after a total of seven hours' play was lost over the first two days.
"It was really confusing out there. We were trying to finish as much as we can. I just tried to play my best on every hole. I wasn't thinking much. I am happy with where I stand now," said Jazz.
Jazz is currently four-under for the round with four holes to play. Sri Lankan Mithun Perera fired one eagle and two birdies against a bogey to trail Jazz by two shots with six holes to play.
"I played decent golf out there.
It's been good so far. I left a few putts out there but other than that, everything was good," said Perera. Local favourite Jyoti Randhawa dominated the first day's play, which was held up for four hours due to poor visibility at the Delhi Golf course.
Organisers cut the tournament short with weather forecasts warning of further disruptions to the event. "The tournament has been affected by lengthy delays due to persistent fog throughout the week," said Asian Tour tournament director Fritz Katzengruber.
A total of 112 players will return on Saturday morning to complete their rounds with the third and final round played on Sunday. Scores after round 2 of the truncated tournament -7 through 14 Jazz Janewattananond (THA) -5 through 12 Shubhankar Sharma (IND) -5 through 12 Mithun Perera (SRI)
