Two foreign teams are likely to take part in Lahore to Sahiwal international cycle race, being organised here on August 18 as part of Independence Day celebrations.

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Aug, 2018 ) :Two foreign teams are likely to take part in Lahore to Sahiwal international cycle race, being organised here on August 18 as part of Independence Day celebrations.

"We have extended invitations to few countries and we are expecting two foreign teams to participate in the event," said Idrees Haider Khawaja ,organizing secretary of the race, while talking to APP on Monday.

He said the riders will flag off in morning from Punjab Stadium to embark on a strenuous voyage.

"Eight to nine local teams will also take part in the event," he added.

Muhammad Aamir Jan, Director General sports board Punjab will be Chief Guest at the opening ceremony at Punjab Stadium Lahore.

The race will reach at Sahiwal about at 1pm on the same day. Akbar Murad Divisional Officer Sports Sahiwal, Ch Naeem Nisar President Sahiwal Cycling Association will receive the race at the finish point. The chief guest of closing ceremony will be Commissioner Sahiwal who will distribute the cash awards to first six positions holders at Circuit House Sahiwal.
