PWF has nothing to do with Pro Wrestling

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -1st Sep,2016) : National coach Muhammad Anwar on Thursday said Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) has nothing to do with the Pro Wrestling event scheduled to be held here in November.

He said it is better if traditional wrestling events are held in the country as to groom the game and the country's wrestlers. Speaking about the Asian Beach Games scheduled to be held in Vietnam from September 24, he said Pakistan will put up a good show in the Games. He said the training camp is underway here at the Pakistan Sports Complex for preparation of the Games.

"As many as 12 wrestlers are participating in the camp," he told APP. "The wrestlers include Muhammad Nazir (61 kg), Muhammad Asad (74 kg), Muhammad Inam (86 kg), Abdul Rehman (70 kg), Muhammad Bilal (100 kg), Muhammad Ameer (90 kg), Muhammad Ameer Jr.

(86 kg), Danish Masih (61 kg), Muhammad Tayyab (80 kg), Muhammad Haseeb (90 kg), Sadat Baig (90 kg) and Muhammad Furqan (80 kg)," he said. He said the wrestlers are being taught new rules about the game in the camp and are being trained under his guidance. He said Muhammad Nazir (61 kg) and Muhammad Asad (74 kg) have clinched medals in the Asian Beach Games and South Asian Games while Muhammad Inam (86 kg) bagged a medal in the 2010 Common Wealth Games. He further said that the national junior wrestling team camp is also ongoing in Peshawar which includes 30 wrestlers.

"The junior wrestlers are being trained by Sohail Rashid, Zahid Khan and Abdul Qayum," he said.
