Sports As A Tool For Strengthening Peace And Tolerance Said Balochistan's Health Minister Mir Naseebullah Marri

Provincial Minister for health Mir Naseebullah Marri on Thursday said sports can become a powerful tool of strengthening peace and tolerance in the society, due to its ability to unite people, regardless of frontiers, cultures and religions, it can promote tolerance and reconciliation
These views were expressed by the Provincial Minister for Health while addressing an inauguration ceremony of first All Balochistan Sports Festival at Kohlu district today.
The minister said that sports activities are essential for life because such activities encourage a culture of discipline and tolerance in society.
He said the future of 'Naya Pakistan' depends on the youth and unfortunately governments in the past have not invested in the youth and done nothing to empower them.
He said that provincial government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Jam Kamal was taking revolutionary steps for the promotion of education and sports.
He said that only education can guarantee development and prosperity in the country. Young lot must seek knowledge, not to waste time, must give proper time to their studies and must spare time for sports as well to remain healthy.
He said that regular sports activity from a young age through university leads to improved education.
However, this flies in the face of Pakistan's cultural "norms", it is assumed that sports can be a distraction after a child reaches a certain age.
He said that societies which encourage sports have lower crime rates, leads to a decrease in poverty, and brings families and communities together because most sports are team oriented. When a cricket team is formed, a bond is automatically made among teammates, the same applies to football, basketball, field hockey", he added.
"As a result of children being involved in sports, crime rates drop, and communities become safer", he said He said that sports and games are actually the ways of enhancing the youths' mental and physical growth.
He said that the growing popularity of computer, video games and television make the children very inactive in their lifestyles. The time spent in these things may be spent in some physical activities.
He further said that participation in organized sports offers the chance for youth to enhance their physical and social skills. Sports offer children a change from the monotony of their daily life. It is also a useful means of entertainment and physical activity for them, he added.
