China will grant first licenses for the commercial use of its 5G high-speed Internet network on Thursday, state newspaper People's Daily reported

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th June, 2019) China will grant first licenses for the commercial use of its 5G high-speed Internet network on Thursday, state newspaper People's Daily reported.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last December allowed three national telecom operators China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile to use 5G test frequencies.

The next-generation broadband connection is 30 times faster than 4G and is expected to generate hundreds of billions of dollars in revenues in the coming decade.

The 5G rollout in China comes amid aggressive attempts by the US government to bar Chinese tech giant Huawei from contributing to the networks built by the United Kingdom and Germany.
