Russian Space Corporation Signs Regulation on New Cosmonaut Trials

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th March, 2019) Russia's space agency Roscosmos has signed off on a regulation to initiate new cosmonaut trials, its press office told Sputnik on Monday.

"State Corporation Roscosmos has approved a regulation on a new cosmonaut selection.

The starting date and the timeline of the selection will be set later by an inter-ministerial commission," it said.

Sputnik learned in February that the corporation was preparing to initiate new trials. It selected only eight people in 2018 from a pool of some 420 candidates who had been filing applications since 2017. The new selection was to begin in spring 2019.
