ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2018 ) :The regular monitoring of the air quality has reported the Federal Capital is breathing in healthy environment with below permissible limits slightly reduced concentrations of particulate matter (PM2.5) and Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the atmosphere.
The data has been obtained from the fixed air quality monitoring station located at Pak-EPA premises in sector H-8/2.
According to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Friday, air quality data recorded revealed that all the parameters are below the permissible limits of National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS).
The 24 hour average of NO2 was 4.16 g/m3 and SO2 2.
18 g/m against the NEQS value of 80 g/m and 120 g/m, however the concentrations yesterday were 4.81 g/m and 2.29 g/m.
Concentration of Particulate Matter of size 2.5 microns was 12.13 g/m against the 35 g/m standard value which was 10.53 g/m on Thursday.
It was observed in the report that 24 hours average concentrations of all three parameters particularly NO2, SO2 and Particulate Matter of size less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) were below the permissible limits of National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS) with tumultuous concentrations. The concentrations of PM2.5 during the day time and NO2 during the evening hours were recorded slightly high.
