Palestinian Teen Dies After Clashes With Israeli Military On Gaza Border - Health Ministry

GAZA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th September, 2018) A Palestinian teenager has succumbed to injuries received in clashes with the Israeli military on the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip, Ashraf Kidra, the spokesman for the Gaza Health Ministry, told Sputnik on Sunday.

"A 16-year-old Palestinian died today in hospital of the grave injuries that he had suffered in clashes with the Israeli army in the southern part of the Gaza Strip," Kidra said.

He is the fourth Palestinian who died of injuries since Friday's clashes during protest rallies in the Gaza Strip. The youngest one of these four was 12 years old.

The Friday rallies continued the series of weekly protest actions, dubbed the Great March of Return, which Palestinians have been holding since March 30.

According to Kidra, the rallies have claimed the lives of 178 Palestinians, and have left almost 20,000 Palestinians injured since then.

According to the Israeli military forces, 13,000 people participated in the rallies on Friday. As they were burning car tires and throwing explosive objects and bottles with incendiary fuel at the police, the police responded by opening fire and carrying out two attacks against the Hamas militants' operating sites.

Israel holds the Hamas radical movement, governing the Gaza Strip, responsible for the escalation of conflict.
