Russian Senior Diplomat Expects New UN Envoy For Syria To Come To Moscow For Urgent Talks

Russia hopes that the new UN special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen of Norway, will travel to Moscow soon for talks on Syria's future, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told Sputnik on Monday.
"He could come right now. We aren't keen on formalities.
The sooner he comes to Moscow the easier it will be for him to learn the ropes and our stance. It will benefit us too because we should not waste time," he said.
"There is too much at stake, many pressing issues that cannot be put off, such as humanitarian problems, the creation of a constitutional committee, progress in political process, and of course the Astana format," the diplomat explained.
