Trump said he wanted to create a new, lasting tradition centered around July 4 and the holiday weekend associated with it, the pool report said.

"We're thinking about doing something which would become perhaps become a tradition, Salute to America, on July 4th or July 4th weekend somewhere around that area," he said.

Trump was commenting on discussions at a Cabinet meeting he chaired on the subject earlier on Tuesday.
