US, Brazil Announce Joint Energy Development Effort On Sidelines Of Trump-Bolsonaro Summit

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th March, 2019) The United States and Brazil plan to form a joint energy forum to help expand energy-related trade and investment between the two nations, the US Department of Energy announced in a press release on Tuesday.

"The USBEF [US-Brazil Energy Forum] represents a whole-of-government, public/private approach that is committed to addressing the energy security challenges facing the two countries and our allies and partners around the world," the release sated.

Tuesday's announcement came on the sidelines of a summit in Washington, DC between President Donald Trump and Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro.

On March 11, US Energy Secretary Rick Perry and Brazil's Minister of Mines and Energy Bento Albuquerque met in Texas and agreed to meet later this year to formally launch and convene the first meeting under the US-Brazil Energy Forum.
