European Union Delegation Visits Engro Foods Beneficiary Dairy Farmer In Karachi

Karachi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th February, 2019) A high-level European Union delegation along with TVET SSP (Technical & Vocational Education and Training - Sector Support Program) team, executives from Engro Foundation and Engro Foods visited Al-Mehmood Dairy Farm in Behns Colony Karachi on Wednesday, the 13th of February.
This EU team paid a visit to meet with the trainees who received training on becoming dairy farm supervisors and extension worker under the Enhancing Dairy Skills Through Specialized Training project. The project is part of the TVETSSP. TVET Sector Support Programme is funded by the European Union, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The Programme has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in close collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) as well as provincial Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTAs) and private sector organizations. This project is one of the many initiatives taken by Engro Foods Limited along with Engro Foundation at enhancing the skills of Pakistani dairy farmers by providing specialized trainings and equipping them with the right tools and farming knowledge to increase the cattle productivity and ensuring the quality of milk. In hope to build a cohesive working structure that yields impressive results and promotes dairy farming in Pakistan, European Union, has supported Engro Foods Limited, to accomplish their goal of promoting rural dairy farming.
The core purpose of this visit was to meet with the trained farmers, oversee their progress and learn more about the unique training model that Engro Foods Limited has developed for these rural dairy farmers under the dairy value chain project. Through this project1,260 men and women have received training to become dairy farm supervisors and extension workers using the National Vocational Certification curriculum for Dairy Farm Supervisors. EFL representatives personally saw through the farm visit with the European union delegation, which was led by Head of Cooperation MrMilko Van Gool who on this occasion commented by saying, “It gives me immense joy to see our combined efforts with Engro Foods Limited coming to fruition. The work that is being done with the farmers is truly impressive as the numbers speak for themselves – in the context of this project, EFL hasmanaged to train 1,260 beneficiaries which includes 448 women. These trained men and women will be working in the dairy sector to increase the productivity of the small dairy farmer which contributes to the GDP and provides a sustainable living to the farmers.” Engro Foods Limited along with Engro Foundation continues their commitment to facilitate, empower and provide a good living to the Pakistani dairy farmers. During this visit Engro Foundation was represented by their Head Favad Soomro and Business Sustainability Associate Fahad Saeed; EFL was represented by Khawar Siddiqui, Assistant Manager Corporate Communications and Ramzan Burriro Project and Field Operations Manager.
