British Seasonal Jobs In European Holiday Resorts At Risk Over Brexit - Reports

Brexit has jeopardized 25,000 British seasonal workplaces in the European ski resorts and places for summer activity holidays, media reported on Tuesday.
According to The Guardian newspaper, EU companies involved in seasonal travel business will face difficulties in the sector because they will not be able to hire British employees under the EU Posted Workers Directive after March 30, if the UK leaves the EU.
"There are 25,000 British people that are employed in the seasonal travel business, earning their salaries through the British system and paying tax in Britain... The mountains aren't going anywhere, it's just the staff in the bars and chalets and hotels won't be British anymore.
It is also a huge loss of British jobs," British entrepreneur Charles Owen told the newspaper.
Owen also added that Brexit had ruined his business model which led him to sell his bar and restaurant in the French Alps resort of Meribel.
The newspaper stressed that British employees were traditionally engaged in everything related to ski holidays, including meeting of guests, airport transfers, accommodation and ski passes.
The EU Posted Workers Directive allows the tourism industry to temporarily recruit workers from EU member states.
The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in a referendum in June 2016 and is expected to do so by late March 2019.
