One Person Dies In Explosion At Pemex Gas Pipeline In Mexico's Tabasco - Authorities

MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 08th October, 2022) One person died and over a hundred were evacuated in the southeastern Mexican state of Tabasco due to an explosion on a gas pipeline, belonging to the Pemex (Petroleos Mexicanos) state-owned oil company, local authorities said.

"30 families, (around) 110 or 111 people were evacuated," a representative of the Tabasco civil protection department told reporters on Friday.

The explosion occurred earlier in the day in the municipality of Huimanguillo, and was presumably caused by a 55-year-old man who was smoking near the site, according to the civil protection authorities. The culprit of the accident was killed by the blast, while another teenager suffered gas poisoning.

At least eleven houses were damaged by the explosion.

The gas pipeline repair work could take up to three days, according to local emergency authorities.
