SMEDA to improve women entrepreneurship services

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -6th Sept,2016) : The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has planned to improve its services for boosting up women entrepreneurs for which a process for seeking opinions and suggestions from women chambers, associations and other stakeholders has been started.

According to SMEDA's Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell (WED) here Tuesday, initially the process has been commenced from south Punjab by holding a 'Women Business Need Assessment Workshop' in collaboration with Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Multan Division.

"The objective of the workshop was to get the feedback on a prescribed need assessment form, to assemble opinions of women entrepreneurs, who are partners and stakeholders in women entrepreneurship development cause of SMEDA", said Ms Tania Buttar returning to the town after conducting the workshop.

She was confident that the opinions obtained from the Multan workshop would help SMEDA in designing need based products and services for (Women Entrepreneurs (WEs) She informed that such workshops would also be held in other regions of the country to open up informal and candid interactive sessions among the stakeholders.

Series of such workshops will provide a forum for participants to exchange views, best practices, ideas to find solutions for current and emerging issues for future planning and executions, she added.

This is notable that SMEDA Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell (WEDC) has been supporting and working for development, promotion, up gradation and uplifting of WEs since last decade and the Women Business Incubation Center set up at Lahore that ended with a great success leading to the establishment of similar projects in other business capitals.
