A three-day international conference on the 'Current Scenario of Research in Plant Sciences, Challenges and Opportunities', continued at the University of Sargodha UoS on Thursday
SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2018 ) :A three-day international conference on the 'Current Scenario of Research in Plant Sciences, Challenges and Opportunities', continued at the University of Sargodha UoS on Thursday.
The conference, being organised jointly by the Department of Botany, UoS, and the Higher education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, started on Wednesday and would conclude on Friday. More than 150 national and international research scholars from the USA, China, Argentina, Bulgaria and India are participating in the event present the research papers and lectures on emerging trends in plant sciences research.
On the first day. a Bulgarian Professor of Institute of Forage Crops, Pleven, Dr Vasileva Viliana presented her study on 'Agronomic Characterisation and the Possibility for Potential Use of Subterranean Clover in the Forage Production in Bulgaria'.
Dr Moinuddin, professor of Indiana University Bloomington, USA, described the 'Dendrochronology and its Importance in Pakistan'. He said that it is a study of tree rings for various purposes while tree rings are not only used to assess the age of a tree but also a powerful tool for water flow modeling, forest ecology and glaciology.
Dr Lian-Ming Gao, professor of East Asia Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese academy of Sciences, shared his research on 'Hybrid Speciation Patterns Varies in Rhododendron and Taxus in a Global Biodiversity Hotspot of Mountains of SW China'. Earlier, Vice Chancellor UoS Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed inaugurated the conference and urged students to benefit from such events.
