First religious school for transgender people has been inaugurated in Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th April, 2019) First religious school for transgender people has been inaugurated in Rawalpindi. Pakistan Peace Council joint secretary Qari Amjad Ali islam has inaugurated the school at Sadiqabad Rawalpindi.Rawalpindi first school for transgender people recorded 20 enrolments on its opening day as the schools have 150 capacity of transgender.
"In Pakistani society, there are schools for disabled people, orphans and minority groups but there is no institute for transgender people.
So we decided to come up with a proper educational system to empower and educate them so they can make a living and play a bigger role in Pakistan, "stated speakers on the occasion. The school aims to provide transgender students with a safe learning environment where they would not only study but receive career counseling too.
