Malakand University Providing Quality Education At Low Cost Academic Package In 26 Disciplines: VC

University of Malakand (UoM) established in late nineties, is providing higher education in 26 disciplines manned with highly qualified faculty members that made it distinctive from other contemporary varsities of the province.
UoM, second in ranking after University of Peshawar, has 235 faculty members of whom thirteen members are PhDs imparting higher education to over 6200 students of the varsity comparatively at cheaper rates as compared to other universities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said Vice Chancellor UoM Dr. Gul Zaman in an exclusive interview with APP at his office.
The PhD faculty members of Maths and Physics department have received gold medals for their outstanding work in their respective fields, he said adding there is no grouping in the varsity and this is apolitical university in true sense.
Dr. Gul Zaman said the varsity conducted eighteen training workshops both national and international since its inception. A Japanese and Chinese are also studying in the varsity. The Maths department has the strong faculty members who secured distinctions at the global level in the field of maths.
There is one seat allocated for Afghan national in each discipline of the varsity, he added. Similarly seven seats are reserved for female over and above their quota in the open merit.
He informed that there are three hostels two for male and one for female students as the number of boarder is around 1500 students. Well equipped dispensary having 24 hours doctor's service is available to the students.
About the academic package he informed that the varsity charged Rs11000 per semester and Rs5500 for hostel accommodation whereas in other varsities the academic package was almost double of the UoM.
About the expansion plan, the VC flanked by the officials of representatives of the NESPAK Afzal Khan and Abbes Khan said that Rs530 million construction work on five different projects was underway of which three would be completed before time.
The projects under completion are Academic Block, Examination Centre, Staff Hostal, STC (Student-Teachers Centre) and two boys hostel.
There is no issue of funding as the HEC has already provided the required grant for the construction of the projects, NESPAK Engr. Afzal Khan added.
