An awareness walk was held here Friday on "World Literacy Day" to higlight the importance of education
MARDAN, Sept 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Sep, 2017 ) : An awareness walk was held here Friday on "World Literacy Day" to higlight the importance of education. District Administration, civil societies, parents and media persons participated in the walk which started from College Chowk and ended at Press Club Mardan.
Assistant Commissioner Mardan, Muhammad Imran Khan on the occasion said education is the backbone of every developed country and nations that invested in education flourished in the world. He said through the provision of education we can tackle terrorism, injustice and illiteracy.
He asked the participants and politicians to work for the betterment of education and ensure the provision of quality education.
Sajjad Ahmad, an education activist said that World Literacy Day reminds us the importance of education in our society.
He suggested that the government should invest more funds on education to address the missing facilities, gender disparity and ensure provision of quality education. Zamong Jazba Welfare Society President Muhammad Pervez also spoke on the occasion and said that being a Muslim, education should be our utmost duty.
He asked parents to enroll their children in schools and demanded the government to address all the issues being confronted by the students in government schools.
