Doctors To Be Transferred To Home Districts: Dr Yasmin Rashid

Provincial Minister Health Dr Yasmin Rashid said the government would transfer doctors to their home districts besides creating posts for psychiatrists and psychologists at public sector hospitals
She was responding to a question by MPA Sadia Taimur, on Private Members Day, during the Question Hour session in the Punjab Assembly session on Tuesday with Panel of Chairman Mian Muhammad Shafi in the chair.
The PA session started one hour and 45 minutes behind its scheduled time of 11:00 am.
Provincial Minister Health Dr Yasmin told the house that new posts of psychologists and psychiatrists were being created for the treatment of addicts in district hospitals of the province, adding that 10 beds had been dedicated for the treatment of addicts in district hospital Rajanpur.
She said a post of a psychiatrist was advertised for Dera Ghazi Khan but not a single doctor applied for the post despite the fact that a salary of Rs 150,000 was offered against the post.
Dr Yasmin Rashid said the government was aware of dearth of doctors in Okara district and more funds would be allocated in the coming budget.Earlier, the minister, responding to a question by Opposition MPA Malik Muhammad Ahmed, said the vision of Prime Minister on Health was being implemented in the province.
No resolution could be adopted on the Private Members Day while PML-N MPA Rana Manan complained that the department could not furnish proper answer to the questions of the members.
Three pending resolutions from the last day could not be discussed due to the absence of the members concerned and were put off for another day.
The panel of Chairman Mian Muhammad Shafi adjourned the house for Wednesday (tomorrow) at 11:00 am.
