AJK successfully achieves development targets set for fiscal year 2017-18

Azad Jammu and Kashmir has successfully achieved the development targets set for the ongoing financial year 2017-18 by spending 98 percent of the allocated budget.

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2018 ) :Azad Jammu and Kashmir has successfully achieved the development targets set for the ongoing financial year 2017-18 by spending 98 percent of the allocated budget.

According to sources of Planning and Development Department, construction and reconditioning work on 510 kilometers major and inter-districts roads have been completed with the cost of Rs.10.5 billion within specified time period.

The development projects in Housing Sector with the cost of around Rs.1.80 billion have also been completed while the Department of Local Government and Rural Development has spent Rs.2 billion on different projects. Rs.1.68 billion were spend in completion of electricity generation related projects while Rs.1.16 billion were spent in education sector.

The officials further said Rs 1 billion were spent on Agriculture related projects, Rs.490 million on projects in Industries and Commerce and Rs.160 million were spent on the projects relating to tourism.

All the projects were completed in accordance with the specification under well-functioning monitoring and evaluation system.

Meanwhile President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan has called on Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Federal Minister for Finance, Planning and Development on Thursday and raised with her issues related to the infrastructure development of the Muzaffarabad and Neelum campuses of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University, Muzaffarabad.

The minister assured the President that the interim government would be supportive of the ongoing projects and proposals in regard to the infrastructure development of the public sector universities in AJK.

President Masood Khan said that in the past one year, the development budget for Azad Kashmir had been more than doubled and was now being utilized with vigour and precision for economic development of the state, as well as the welfare of the people.

Dr. Shamshad Akhtar said that the interim government was taking all necessary measures to ensure macroeconomic stability of Pakistan and keep the economy on track for growth anddevelopment.
