Dialogue only option to resolve Kashmir issue; Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan

Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday said that India had no option other than dialogue with Pakistan to resolve the longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir because the global community would not allow any misadventure in the region leading to a devastating nuclear war.

MUZAFFARABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Nov, 2018 ) :Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday said that India had no option other than dialogue with Pakistan to resolve the longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir because the global community would not allow any misadventure in the region leading to a devastating nuclear war.

The President made these remarks while addressing a visiting group of under training officers of Pakistan Navy war college Lahore here at his office headed by commandant of the college Rear Admiral Naveed Ahmad Rizvi.

Masood called upon the UN secretary general to realize the severity of the situation of the region and appoint a special representative for paving a way to amicably resolve the issue through dialogue with Pakistan, India and people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Now time has come when the international community and influential countries of the world should come forward and play their role for the permanent and durable solution of this lingering issue to ensure stability and peace in the region avoiding any devastating conflict," Khan remarked.

The president was of the opinion that a positive change was being witnessed in the thinking of international community regarding Kashmir conflict and the realization was very clear that the dream of stability and peace in the south Asia would not come true without peaceful and diplomatic resolution of this issue.

He said a report by UN human rights commission which supported the right to self determination as birth right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized an international investigation of gross human rights violation in Indian occupied Kashmir, was the ample proof of the fact that realization amongst the world community was increasing about the issue.

Khan said after the UN human rights commission's report, a recent report presented in the British Parliament by All Parties parliamentary group on Kashmir was another significant development while human rights committee of European Parliament was preparing a same like report which would be presented in the EU parliament very soon.

The President upraised the student officers about the current situation of Indian occupied Kashmir and said the people in the Valley were being subjected to torture, killing and other brutalities for seeking their just right to self determination which was guaranteed by United Nations.

Khan said after a complete failure to crush the just struggle of the people for right to self determination despite using brutal force, India was planning to change the demography of the valley through settlement of Hindus from India in the valley with the aim to turn the Muslim majority into minority.

He said people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir were feeling severe uncomfortable by the atrocities and gross human rights abuses by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, adding the people and government of region were committed to continue their support for the struggling people till they get the right to self determination.

Earlier, he briefed the visiting officers about the administrative and governance features of the AJK government and its objectives and said its prime responsibility was to continue political and moral support of the liberation movement in the occupied Kashmir besides ensuring good governance in the territory for well-being of the people.

He said there were huge opportunities of development in the tourism and hydroelectric generation in the region the regional government was bring all resources out to develop these sectors for generating resources and raise the minimum living standard of the people.
