Masood Khan lauds efforts of Pak-Kashmir diaspora community

Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has said that it is pertinent to effectively raise the Kashmir issue at the international level and the Pakistan-Kashmiri diaspora community are effectively leveraging their strengths to create critical awareness of the grave human rights violations taking place in Indian Occupied Kashmir

Islamabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd January, 2019) Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has said that it is pertinent to effectively raise the Kashmir issue at the international level and the Pakistan-Kashmiri diaspora community are effectively leveraging their strengths to create critical awareness of the grave human rights violations taking place in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The President made these remarks during a meeting with Mr. Adeel Aasi, President Tahreek-e-Kashmir Denmark who called on the President here at Jammu and Kashmir House. Mr. Adeel informed the President of various activities of their organization including the dissemination of literature on Kashmir in the Danish language, holding Kashmir conferences and seminars, interactions with lawmakers/legislators and local people on the human rights violations taking place at the hands of occupation forces in IOK.

He added that on 27th October - marked as Black Day – Tahreek-e-Kashmir Denmark organized a major seminar at the Copenhagen Town Hall which was attended by a large number of Danish opinion makers including journalists, writers, members of leading think tanks, vloggers and the diaspora community.

He also informed the President that on 5th February - Kashmir Solidarity Day – they will distribute copies of the United Nations Human Rights Report on Kashmir translated into Danish at public areas all over Denmark, hold seminars and conferences at town halls and local municipalities, and also publicize the Kashmir issue by utilizing advertisement spaces on taxis and public buses.

The main slogans being promoted via these advertisements will be, “Stop human rights violation in IOK” and “Give Kashmiris their right to self-determination”. Recalling his 2017 visit to Copenhagen, President AJK praised Tahreek-e-Kashmir for the well-organized visit which comprised of a successful and well attended Kashmir Conference at the Danish Parliament, detailed interactions with Members of the Danish Parliament and heads of Danish human rights organizations.

He said that the Pakistan Embassy in Denmark along with Tahreek-e-Kashmir and the diaspora community is effectively reaching out to intellectuals, legislators and the local community to mobilize opinion and awareness on human rights violations in IOK.

He added that the organization is also actively engaging the local media to help raise awareness of the Kashmir issue. Commending the efforts of Tahreek-e-Kashmir Denmark, the President said that the organization is dynamically working in creating awareness on various aspects of the Kashmir issue by raising the issue and all the while is in close contact with its members all over Europe and the United States.

Terming the diaspora community as an important asset, the President said that their efforts in creating awareness on the Kashmir issue and their outreach have played a positive role in raising the voice of the Kashmiris at the international level.
