No Peace In Region Without Kashmir Settlement: Zafar Butt

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), Zafar Akbar Butt, has said that permanent peace in the region cannot be ensured without resolving the Kashmir dispute in its historic perspective based on fundamental principles of democracy
According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS) , Zafar Akbar Butt addressing public gatherings at Hyderpora, Peer Bagh and Gulwanpora areas of Srinagar soon after his release from illegal house detention, today, urged India to realize the ground reality, respect Kashmiris' sentiment and initiate process for settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
He said the information received from jails regarding the plight of detainees is deeply disturbing and a matter of serious concern for the Kashmiri people.
He said the treatment meted out to Kashmiri political prisoners particularly those lodged in Jammu jails and Delhi's Tihar jail is inhuman and demanded immediate release of the detainees.
Meanwhile , an Indian policeman committed suicide at police lines in Badgam district.
The policeman identified as Muhammad Shafi Mir, a resident of Sadoora area of Kulgam, ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at district police lines Badgam.
This incident has raised the number of such deaths amongst the Indian troops and police personnel to 421 in occupied Kashmir since January 2007 till date.
