1,697 Motorcycles Impounded, Four FIRs Lodged Against One-wheelers

RAWALPINDI,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Augst,2016) :- City Traffic Police (CTP) during their ongoing drive against one-wheelers have impounded 1,697 motorcycles and lodged four first information reports (FIRs) against one-wheelers. According to Acting Chief Traffic Officer (ACTO) CTP Rawalpindi, traffic police on the directive of Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera and special instruction of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja and City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi had launched a special drive against the one-wheelers and underage drivers.
Some 41 motorcycles were impounded under Section-550 while 1697 motorcycles impounded in different police stations under Section-115 of Motor Vehicle Ordinance.
Similarly, 407 underage drivers were issued challan tickets for rash and dangerous driving. The ACTO said special squads of CTP were taking action in accordance with the law against one-wheelers and car-skaters. He said the increasing trend of one-wheeling and car-skating by youngsters had claimed several lives while a number of youngsters had sustained serious injuries. He said the activity was already being checked by traffic wardens but now several other arrangements had been made to curb the activity.
The CTP officers, he said, were directed to keep a vigilant eye on the one-wheelers so that action in accordance with the law could be taken against them. He urged the citizens, particularly parents, to play their role in curbing the one wheeling activity.
