27 Million Saplings Planted Under Green Pakistan Programme, State Minister For Climate Change Zartaj Gul

As many as 27 million plants have so far been planted in the provinces and different territories under Green Pakistan Program-Revival of Forest Resources in Pakistan, State Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul told Senate on Friday.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Nov, 2018 ) :As many as 27 million plants have so far been planted in the provinces and different territories under Green Pakistan Program-Revival of Forest Resources in Pakistan, State Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul told Senate on Friday.
In a written reply to the question of Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, she said a total of 100 million saplings would be planted under 'Green Pakistan Program-Revival of Forest Resources in Pakistan' during the next five years (2017-2021) with a total cost of Rs3.652 billion.
She said the ministry has got funding of US$37.46 million from Green Climate Fund for Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) project in the Northern Areas.
The "Clean Green Pakistan Movement" has also been launched by the prime minister of Pakistan on October 8, 2018 and Ministry of Climate Change is coordinating its implementation with all the provinces including AJK and GB.
She said the National Forest Policy has been approved by the Council of Common Interests and it is expected to be issued soon after approval from the competent forum.
She said Ministry of Climate Change has undertaken the various steps to counter climate change including NationalClimate Change Policy, National Forest Policy, Pakistan Climate Change Act 2017.
