Dept Takes Measures To Protect Wildlife: RFO

Regional Forest Officer (RFO) Wildlife, Shah Nawaz Khan on Wednesday said the department was taking solid measures to protect rare wildlife species in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Nov, 2018 ) :Regional Forest Officer (RFO) Wildlife, Shah Nawaz Khan on Wednesday said the department was taking solid measures to protect rare wildlife species in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
As part of such efforts, the RFO said that ban had been imposed on the illegal hunting in all the districts.
The committees comprising local people had been constituted to keep an eye on illegal hunters and violations of laws, he added.
Despite limited resources, the department had achieved set target and was successfully protecting wildlife in the area.
He informed that local people realizing the importance of wildlife were committed to cooperating with wildlife officials in achieving the set targets.
He said a number of species have increased due to effective control of illegal hunting.
