Earth Day Celebrated At IUB, Walk Held To Mark The Day

Earth Day was celebrated at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with a pledge by faculty and students to protect our home planet to create awareness about environmental hazards including climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, and pollution
BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2019 ) :Earth Day was celebrated at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with a pledge by faculty and students to protect our home planet to create awareness about environmental hazards including climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, and pollution.
According to the spokesman of the university Shahzad Ahmad, the Department of Geography organized an awareness walk, tree plantation activity and signing campaign on a mega banner by the participants to show their commitment toward the planet earth. The participants said that as a result of human activity, the balance of nature has been greatly disturbed globally and there is need to create awareness about the extinction of millions of species.
We can contribute to protecting the earth by stopping the use of pesticide, plastics and encouraging the use of recycling paper and conserving water. We can also manage energy consumption which will ultimately reduce our utility bills. On this occasion, students signed and put slogans on a large banner to show their solidarity towards earth day celebrations being observed globally.
