KPITB, WB, CfP Launches Civic Innovation Program

PESHAWAR, Mar 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Mar, 2017 ) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology board (KPITB) in collaboration with World Bank (WB) and Code for Pakistan (CfP) Wednesday launched 3rd Batch of "Civic Innovation Fellowship Program," initiative.
Addressing the launching ceremony as a Chief Guest, Secretary Information Technology, Muhammad Daud Khan termed the fellowship Program a revolutionary initiative of provincial government and said it would transform service delivery mechanism of government departments.
Briefing the participants, Managing Director KPITB, Dr. Shabaz Khan said that 20 qualified fellows from the pool of 1000 applicants have been selected for the third program that would work with government departments to deliver solutions for improving service delivery.
On this occasion government Innovations Lab with the brand name "Durshal" was also inaugurated to establish link between government departments, tech-Industry IT entrepreneurs and investors to anchor KP's digital transformation.
Under the fellowship Program creative and innovative youth attached to field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are being provided a platform to work with ICT exports, software developers, Tech Industry and government departments with an aim to propose innovative technology solutions for government services departments.
It merits a mention here that the fellowship program started back in 2014 and has successfully completed its two batches producing 30 graduate-fellows who have partnered with various departments including Health, Traffic Police, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Energy & Power and Directorate of IT to developed different open source applications.
KP is the first province to enter into collaborative partnership with code for Pakistan and World Bank in launching such an innovative program.
