Rescue-1122 to raise one million volunteers to develop safe & resilient communities

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jan, 2019 ) :The Punjab Emergency Service (PES), Rescue-1122 will make efforts to raise one million volunteers to establish healthy, safe and resilient communities in the country.

According to Head of Community Safety and Information, Rescue-1122, Ms. Deeba Shahnaz, Rescue-1122 mobilized 537,712 community members last year and established 4048 Community Emergency Response teams at Union Council level across the province.

She informed that 2018 remained year of community mobilization as over 537,712 community members were sensitized in educational institutions, government organizations and at Union Council level.

She said 4048 Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) were constituted and trained to response with Emergency Service in case of any major disaster.

Every CERT team established at Union Council level consists of at least 12 members and each member was enrolled and trained as Rescue Scout, she added.

Out of total 537,712 community members 325,587 were sensitized in 2779 awareness activities, 178,928 trained on basic life support and fire safety in 2006 training sessions while 33,197 Rescue Scouts at Union Council level were imparted training to promote healthy, safe and resilient culture in the province.

She informed that all the District Emergency Officers of Rescue-1122 had been directed to ensure the Community Safety activities in line with 2019 Rescue commitment to establish healthy, safe and resilient communities by mobilizing the power of humanity through a force of one million Rescue Scouts in Pakistan.

The DG, PES, Dr. Rizwan Naseer had appreciated efforts of Community Safety & Information, Safety Wing of Rescue-1122, District Emergency Officers and Rescue and Safety Officers for capacity building of the rescuestaff as master trainers, registration and training of Rescue Scout for implementation of the program in true letter and spirit, she informed.
