Vision 2025 A Guiding Light For Development In Pakistan: Khawar Mumtaz

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2018 ) :Chairperson, National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) in Pakistan Khawar Mumtaz has said Vision 2025 is a 'guiding light for development' in Pakistan.
Talking to APP here on Tuesday, she said that women contribute 400 billion rupees a year to the national exchequer but that is not highlighted appropriately and still the nexus between phenomenal work and women empowerment is not examined as yet.
She said, 'Women's contribution does not get highlighted in statistics and there is a need to highlight their efforts for the betterment of the society. "We have also not linked the impacts of climate change on women and the opportunities associated with it'" she said.
She said that NCSW strives to fulfill the promise of a life of dignity and justice to women of Pakistan.
She said that Commission's mandate is to address the issues that affect the lives of women adversely by reviewing and analyzing the laws and policies and consequently formulating recommendations through dialogue and research to enable them to hold a position of equity.
The Commission is mandated to promote social, economic, political and legal rights of women as provided in the Constitution of Pakistan. Among other prominent steps taken by the Commission included the Establishment of National Women's Resource Centre at National library of Pakistan in Islamabad, Consultation on "Future of First Women Bank Limited (FWBL), 16- Days of Activism against violence against women and efforts to strengthen Governance in Health Systems for Reproductive Health and Rights.
