Women Parliamentary Caucus Acknowledges Contribution Of Leading Women With Disabilities

Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Tuesday organized "Khadija Tul Kubra Award" distribution ceremony on prodigious contribution for empowering women with disabilities in Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2018 ) :Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Tuesday organized "Khadija Tul Kubra Award" distribution ceremony on prodigious contribution for empowering women with disabilities in Pakistan.
List of women with disabilities received Khadija Tul Kubra Awards 2018 includes Zahida Qureshi physically impaired from Multan, Komal Khan Abbotabad, Saira Ayub Lahore, Tanzila Khan Lahore, Amama Nusrat Karachi, Zargoona Wadood Quetta, Saira Shams Timergara, Syeda Imtiaz Fatima Lahore, Rabail Pirzada Multan, Taqwa Ahmed Gujranwala, Saima Ashraf Lahore, Aqsa Shahid Lahore, Zainab Barkat Peshawar, Asma Noor Karachi, Fatima Jafri Karachi, Saima Aslam Rawalpindi, Maria Qureshi Rawalpindi, Tayabba Arshi Rawalpindi, Lozina Shoaib Rawalpindi and Noreen Khan Khanewal.
MNA Shaista Parvez and Secretary WPC said that the award had been introduced to develop the capacity to identify and address relevant gender perspectives in all areas of our work at both normative and operational levels.
She said that gender perspectives were being incorporated into planning, budgeting and reporting process.
She said that the Pakistan Rights of Persons with Disability Bill, 2017 was introduced in the Assembly on January 16, 2018.
She said that the bill would protect the rights of persons with disabilities in our regime would become a law soon and persons with disabilities in Pakistan would enjoy their lives as an equal citizens having access to education, employment and every right.
The Embassy of United States in Pakistan extended support to execute this initiative through the Public Affairs Section Grant and UN Women also joined as strategic partner. The distribution ceremony was also supported by Trocaire Pakistan Office and Mobility International USA.
The award distribution ceremony was also attended by Parliamentarians Ms. Tahira Aurangzeb, Ms. Kishwar Zahra, Secretary Human Rights Rabia Javeri Agha, Deputy Chief of the Mission US Embassy John Hoover, Deputy Australian High Commissioner Brek Bately, Country Head UN Women Jamshed Kazi and Muhammad Atif Sheikh Executive Director STEP.
