Peshawar Red, Tank To Clash In 13th NBP Inter-District Soccer

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Nov, 2018 ) :Peshawar Red and Tank will clash against each other in the grand final after recording victories against their respective rivals in the semi-final of the 13th NBP Inter-District Football Championship being played here at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium on Sunday.
Director Operation Directorate of sports KP Syed Saqlain Shah was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the semi-finals matches the players were introduced to him. Organizing Secretary Basit Kamal, former Secretary General KP Football Association Haji Khawjah Ilyas, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
The final will of the Championship will be played on Monday at 3.00 p.m. Speaker Provincial Assembly Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Director General Sports Sports Junaid Khan, former Health Minister Syed Zahir Shah will also grace the occasion as guests and would witnessed the final.
In the first match Peshawar Red stunned Dir by solitary goal scored by Azhar on the field attempt. It was a well combined move made by right winger Khalid along with international Waleed Waheed and Junaid and zoomed quickly by reaching in front of the goal-post and gave a free ball to unmarked Azhar who did nothing wrong in dispatching it into the net.
After taking lead, Peshawar Red got more chances and in the 19th minute it got a penalty kick when Waleed was wrongly intercepted in the box area. The penalty kick was taken by Khalid, the skipper of the team but it was nicely intercepted by Dir goal-keeper Siraj Khan while diving to his right.
He also received thundering applauses from the sitting spectators.
On the other hand, District Dir also got some sure goal chances but failed to click and thus Peshawar Red after playing a goal-less second-half won the match by solitary goal.
In the second semi-final Tank shocked Bannu by 1-0. The prominent strikers of Tank Faridullah, Salahuddin and Adil Khan time and again shattered the rival defence but due to poor finishing they were failed to score any goal.
On the other hand Bannu also made good attacking moves but failed to score any goal and thus after the end of the goal-less first session this was mid-fielder Arif Khan who netted a fine goal through field attempt.
Arif got a free foul kick just in front of the goal-post and slammed in a beautiful goal to make the tally 1-0. The goal injected new vigor in the rank of Tank as they made some good rallies of attacks but first Faridullah missed the target and secondly the attempts of Salahuddin and Adil Khan were nicely thwarted by Bannu goal-keeper Azmat Ullah.
Bannu also tried their hard to level the tally but failed due to poor finishing and individual approached they adopted right in the outset of the match. The matches were supervised by Dilawar Khan, Abdur Rehman, Zeeshan, Abid while Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah acted as Match Commissioner.
